The Tomato Tasting Contest

Where: Cherokee County Senior Services Building, Univeter Rd., Canton
Time: Arrive at 9:45 to help set up. The contest will begin at 10:30 and typically lasts about an hour. Please plan to stay and help with the cleanup.
Who Competes: Members are encouraged to bring their homegrown tomatoes.
Judges: Will be about 40 Seniors at the Center who will taste all the entries and vote
Why: This is summer fun at its best! It is hilarious! You will delight the seniors and have the opportunity to showcase your homegrown tomatoes. Plus, it’s time to send that Golden Zucchini to a new home!
What: There will be three categories: Cherry Tomatoes, Yellow Tomatoes, and Slicers.
Prizes: The winners in each category will have bragging rights for 2025, and the Golden Zucchini Trophy will be awarded to the best overall tomato.
The “Everlasting Tomato” will be awarded to the contestant who brings in the most tomatoes by weight from their garden.

Helpers Are Needed to:
- Make labels for the entries – paper bags
- Weigh tomatoes
- Slice tomatoes
- Chat with the seniors and help them with their plates and voting
- Record votes and tally results
- Assist with sandwich making with the seniors
- Clean up
- Take photos
Supplies Needed: sharp knives, cutting boards, aprons, and large platters for slicing tomatoes for the seniors’ sandwiches. Please label anything that you bring.
